Coeur d'Alene Mine Shaft House
-
The Coeur d'Alene Mine was in operation from 1887 to 1942 and reached a depth of 700 feet. Originally owned by a woman, the mine was never a big producer but it was steady and the building is one of the few remaining intact shaft houses in Gilpin County. Much of the original equipment remains in the building and the views from the dump area are spectacular. Tours are available by appointment only.
