Dominating the cityscape from virtually every vantage point, the Teller House opened in 1872. It was considered to be the most elegant hotel between Chicago and San Francisco. The 1873 visit of President Grant prompted silver promoters to temporarily pave the entrance walks with silver bricks. The Rocky Mountain National Bank was on street level from 1874 to 1915. The famous Face on the Barroom Floor by Herndon Davis graces the Elevator Bar.
