1009 Institute St. NW: An early 1920's Cottage home
-
This charming cottage was built in the early 1920's. It has a metal roof, rocking chair porch, and heart pine flooring throughout. The home originally had only two rooms which are now the living room and front bedroom. The Taylor's, who have lived in the home for the past 20 years, have completed a total renovation down to the studs and hardwood floors. They have added a master suite, enclosed a side porch for a dining room, and built a bay window. They have added a potting shed and worship to the property. The original wood shake roof over the bath still remains.
Mrs. Whitlatch, the former owner, sold worms from what is now the back yard. This may explain why the Taylor's have such rich soil.
