Conyers was originally developed in the 1850s as a train station on the Georgia Railroad connecting Augusta and Marthasville (now Atlanta), and visitors can still tour the original depot in the historic downtown area called Olde Town. The historic train depot, built in 1891 is located at the Conyers Welcome Center, 901 Railroad Street, Conyers, Georgia 30012. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Spared by General William Tecumseh Sherman in his famed March to the Sea, the rich heritage of the Conyers community is reflected in the beauty of the homes that will be shared on the self-guided walking tour of historic homes.PLEASE NOTE: Homes and property are private and not open to the public.
