CHAD partners with DC3 Building Trades Program on a new build.

The Community Housing Association of Dodge City (CHAD) is partnering with DC3 Building Trades Program to build a new home on 1521 Mulberry Circle. This project is funded by a Moderate Income Housing (MIH) grant from the Kansas Housing Resource Corporation.

The City of Dodge City street division cleaned out the lot for CHAD. Crews dug out concrete footings and removed the driveway and trees. The local contractor began digging the basement. When school begins in the fall, DCCC students will begin construction. This partnership allows students to gain hands-on experience with the building of homes. It not only brings into play different construction techniques, but also teaches energy efficiency, code compliance, and working conditions, while allowing them to experience community development in the process.

The home will be built on a vacant lot in an existing neighborhood. The new build will create neighborhood stabilization, improve the quality of the neighborhood and add property to the tax roll.  Once finished, the home will be sold and the proceeds will go back to CHAD.
