Black Shoals Park & Randy Poynter Lake
-
Randy Poynter Lake, a 650-acre reservoir located in historic North Rockdale, was constructed by the Big Haynes Creek Impoundment Authority to meet the long-range water supply needs of the County's residential, commercial and industrial communities. Work began on the 1,500-foot concrete dam that created the lake in October of 1994. The lake was filled and opened in April of 2000.
There are many recreational opportunities available at Black Shoals Park. Rockdale County encourages visitors to enjoy these amenities in a responsible manner to ensure that the quality of water supply is not compromised. Visitors should familiarize themselves with park regulations and adhere to them. The regulations are strictly enforced.
The Veterans Memorial Park is also located at the Black Shoals Park. Please visit their website at www.walkofheroes.com
