Folks find Lincolnton an excellent place to visit. A flourishing downtown central business district is enjoying a renaissance with local merchants selling antiques, boutique clothing, fine jewelry and unique gifts. A new music store, recording studio, butcher shop and wood fired pizzeria are a few of the most recent business openings. A growing restaurant and craft brewery movement is creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and leading the charge to redevelop and repurpose historic buildings. Part of the Carolina Thread Trail, the Cloninger Rail Trail passes through the heart of downtown and connects three city parks. In fact, Lincolnton may be the only downtown district that can boast a main street that is an official part of the CTT.

The community’s commitment to historic preservation and celebration of the arts led to its first public art installation featuring “Pots on Parade” face jugs in the local Catawba Valley pottery style installed on Main Street. And period artistic and advertising murals adorn rehabilitated brick buildings, quilt squares have been installed on public buildings as part of the growing quilt trail movement and a new blueway river launch and fishing pier is set to take advantage of the South Fork River that runs through the city. Each June, Lincolnton celebrates its pivotal role in the American Revolution with the Battle of Ramsour’s Mill “Battle Weekend” event. The patriot victory is commemorated each year with a living history weekend of Revolutionary War reenactments and music, period cooking, firearms demonstrations, battle site tours and a wreath-laying ceremony at the mass gravesite by the Sons & Daughters of the American Revolution.

Lincolnton. Near the City. Near the Mountains. Near Perfect.
