Clayton's work blends modern abstract sensibilities with formal subjects. He is interested in the physical act that goes into creating my work. He describes it as a performance or dance with the material... a chance to change something raw into something beautiful and real.
As a young boy the spark for welding and the creative process was set as he watched his father weld and braze metals into unique sculptures. Originally from Miami, Clayton started his art career as an abstract painter while at St. Petersburg College and later moved into metal sculpture after receiving his Bachelors of Arts in Fine Art from the University of South Florida. He have been working with art full time for the past 12 years.
His work lives in environmental public spaces, private collections and galleries around the world.
